The College Student

I learned something interesting this week in my Child Development class. I was studying about the brain and the left/right hemispheres and their different specialities. I think it is well known that each side of the cerebral cortex receives information from and controls only one side of the body. The left hemisphere controls the right side of the body and the right hemisphere controls the left. Here is the interesting information I didn't know. After this explanation there was a footnote that explained, "The eyes are an exception. Messages from the right half of each retina go to the left hemisphere; messages from the left half of each retina go to the right hemisphere. Thus, visual information from both eyes is received by both hemispheres." Interesting. Complex. I have taken a few classes on the body and whenever I study it I am absolutely amazed.

Here is me studying. Jed snapped a picture and said I could put it on my blog. So here it is on my blog.

The To Do List

Do you ever have those days when time just seems to slip by and "nothing" (meaning nothing on the list of things to do) gets done. I had one of those days this past week- I think it was on Tuesday. Notice the time on the clock. Notice that Kaley is still in her nightgown (I actually don't think she changed her clothes that day. She just went to bed with the same nightgown she had on the night before). I was still in my pajamas. However, we did make Honey and Spice cookies and Kaley tasted the spices in between making towers out of them (two things I did not have on my list of things to do). Oh well- we had fun and the cookies were yummy. I guess sometimes it is the things not on the list that end up being important.

Pictures of the Little'uns

Kaley

I wish you all could have been there to see how happy she was when she crossed the monkey bars for her first time. She was jumping up and down and saying, "I did it. I did it!"
Good Times!
This video was taken a couple days later.

Kaley is learning how to spell and write her name.

She can sing and she can dance.

Anna

Here is Anna eating bread with Prune Spread- I have the recipe if you want it!

She is really mobile-crawling around like a wild woman. She is getting into things and just doing great. One hazard we have to stay on top of with Anna is picking up Kaley's "fuzzies" (if you have spent any time with Kaley you know what I am talking about) and eating them.

Anna was sick last week for her first time. She started with a fever. After two days it broke, and then she developed a little rash on her stomach, back, and head. She is completely fine now but while she was sick we missed our little Anna Grace, smiley face.
